The best thing about running a bed and breakfast is the people you meet. Last week the Wenlock Poetry Festival provided lovely guests, one of which was a poet called Bert. As we were all saying our goodbyes on Sunday morning, two casual callers turned up as they had heard about the Shepherd’s Hut and wanted to check it out (they were impressed!) and at that moment Bert offered to read some of his published poems. So there we were, crammed into my rather small hall, some sitting on the floor, listening to the most amazing poetry! A surreal and touching moment..the poetry was quite moving and reduced some of us to tears. The book is called ‘Singing Puccini At The Kitchen Sink’.
Later in the week we were privileged to have staying in the Shepherd’s Hut a cyclist; Steve Pullan is doing Land’s End to John O’Groats in 14 days and has already raised £2000 for Cancer Research UK. Good luck to him, only another week to go!
